PHPPageProtect is a user authentication system used to password protect selected pages. Pages are protected by adding a single line of PHP script at the top of the page. A web-based administration section allows for the creation of new users, deleting users, changing passwords and viewing logs. User information and logs are stored in a flatfile (text) database.

This class facilitates the maintenance of htpasswd files, used to do Basic Authentication on a web server. This class assumes PHP v3.0 or better and Apache 1.3.3 or better. The password file is a flat-file with login name and their associated crypt.3 passwords, in the format login:password.
