PhotoShop - Engraving
Here you will be tought how to engrave on any
material.
| 1) |
First you will need 2 things before we start.
I material and a font called Cretino.
Once you have download the font, just copy
it into your fonts folder in the Windows directory. |
Click
here to download font
|
If you placed the font in the Windows font
folder after you have started PS, you will
need to restart PS.
I used the metal texture from my metal
tutorial as the material. You can use this
or any texture that you have.
|

| 2) |
Select the Horizontal Type Mask Tool and
select the Cretino font that you just downloaded.
Make the font size very large I made mine
290. |
3) Make a new layer. Now click on the new layer
and type in any capital letter.
I chose the letter T. Heres what I have so far.

| 4) |
Now click on the texture layer (Background
layer) and copy and paste.
EDIT > COPY. EDIT > PASTE |
| 5) |
Click on the new layer that was just created
(layer 2) and go to LAYER > STYLE >
INNER SHADOW. Click OK. It should now look
like this. |

6) Now go to IMAGE > ADJUSTMENTS > BRIGHTNESS/CONTRAST.
I like to set it to -35 Brightness and -5 Contrast.
| 7) |
Now you have an engraved letter T. But that
doesn't look to nice. So Im going to delete
everything on layer 2 except the bottom line.
Heres what Im left with. |

Now this doesn't look like much, but if you repeat
steps 3-6, choose differnt letters and
positions you can create an very nice effect.
Heres something I made a while back using this
technique.
