Vote/User Poll Script Writer (With a db and IP Capture)

Creating an Access Vote/User Poll is as easy as entering the question, the possible choices and copying some code and into an active server document. The following script will dynamically create all the code necessary to integrate a poll into any current asp document as well as the Access (.mdb) file that will track user input. Images for the display of user results are also available for downloaded.

Once created, copy the asp code into a text document and place the Access file and images in the same directory (if you want to place the images or Access file elsewhere, or do not have the appropriate directory settings, you’ll need to make some minor adjustments) and your poll is ready to go. The form action is directed to whatever you name the local file you place the code into (meaning you can put it anywhere, including a document that already exists).

Notes: Your poll can have between two and six possible choices. There is no need to set up a user/file/system DSN for the Access db as it works by DSN-less connection. All Aceess db’s that are created will have a value of one pre-filled in the db. This is to ensure no errors for selections with no votes (long story). In an effort to better prevent ballot stuffing the IP address of the user is captured in the db and does not allow the same IP to vote twice.
